What does Symbola run today?

The MVP runs workloads end to end: GPU/CPU Grid splits compute across worker nodes and Bandwidth Pool sends data over several network paths at once. The current benchmarks are finished jobs, a render and a file transfer. Continuous real-time streaming is the next milestone on the roadmap, with sub-second interactive workloads to follow.

In our internal benchmark, a 120-frame Full HD Blender render would take an estimated 296 minutes on a laptop CPU (one frame took 148 seconds, times 120 frames). Across four Symbola GPU nodes it took 7.76 minutes end to end, 38x faster. A 10 GB transfer averaged 1,301 Mbps through Bandwidth Pool against 430 Mbps on a direct download, about 3x faster.

How much energy does Symbola save?

We have not metered it yet. For our measured render test, we estimate the four GPU laptops used about 0.02 to 0.09 kWh for the whole 7.76-minute run, against 0.22 to 0.32 kWh for the CPU-only laptop rendering for an estimated 296 minutes. That is roughly 60% to 95% less energy. The power assumptions and the limits of the estimate are on symbola.io/benchmark.

Is data secure on Symbola?

Data moves over end-to-end encrypted tunnels between the submitting machine and the worker nodes.

Node selection today is rule-based. AI-assisted scheduling, runtime prediction and capacity forecasting are planned for the 2028 roadmap, trained on the operational data the platform collects.

Which workloads is Symbola built for?

Real-time processing: workloads that need compute and throughput as data arrives, such as live media and video pipelines, streaming data from sensors and field hardware, and remote production. Anything that splits into parallel parts benefits most.

GPU/CPU Grid splits compute workloads into pieces and runs them in parallel on available worker nodes. Bandwidth Pool sends data over several network paths at once instead of a single connection.

Companies with spare CPU, GPU or network capacity contribute it and get paid for the time it is used. Companies that need capacity draw on it while their workload runs, then release it. The target is real-time processing: live media, streaming data, workloads that can't wait in a queue.

Symbola is an orchestration layer that matches workload demand with available distributed capacity.
